A Utah jury has convicted Kouri Richins of murdering her husband, Eric Richins, by injecting fentanyl into his drink in 2022. The allegations of domestic violence against Richins drew national attention during a three-week trial that ended with a verdict of aggravated murder. Prosecutors claimed Richins killed her husband in an attempt to gain his fortune while her house-flipping business was millions in debt. Richins' housekeeper testified that she sold fentanyl pills to Richins twice before Eric's death and once after. While prosecutors claimed that Richins dosed her husband's drink, defense attorneys claimed that detectives failed to test the glasses or investigate the possibility that Eric accidentally overdosed.
