Senegal's President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has approved a bill that doubles the maximum prison term for same-sex sexual acts to 10 years and prohibits efforts to promote homosexuality. The bill, approved by Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, allows for fines of up to 10 million CFA francs for acts against nature related to homosexuality, bisexuality, "transsexuality", and "acts against nature". Those found guilty of promoting or financing such acts could face prison time.
