Colorado Spartans seek arena football longevity with players fueled by the love of the game

Scott Roche, a 36-year-old father of three, started following the Colorado Spartans three years ago when they were formed. Roche, who was a Division III All-American kicker, found the opportunity to play semi-pro football after watching some games from the local National Arena League franchise. The team's roster is comprised of talented players who have a long journey to the next level, many of whom never had a chance at the next-level level. Despite earning around a few thousand dollars for the season, all are playing for the love of the game. The Spartans were founded in 2023 by Tony Thompson, a former South Dakota State defensive lineman.
