State seeks proposals for community-based conservation projects

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) is seeking proposals for community-based conservation projects using about $8 million in funding from the state's new climate impact fee, the Green Fee. The funding is part of a request for proposals called Hoʻōla ʻĀina (“healing land”), which targets projects in places such as forests, watersheds, wetlands, anchialine pools and riparian areas. The state is seeking projects that produce measurable climate resilience benefits while strengthening connections between people and nature.Proposals are due August 17.
