A 40-year-old Columbia woman, Wyketa Burgess, has been convicted of two counts of attempted second-degree murder and two of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. The conviction stems from the October 12, 2024, shooting of two teens outside a grocery store following the reported armed robbery of the son of Burgess' co-defendant, Dienea Traore. The shooting occurred four days after Traore reported the robbery to Howard County police and was assigned to the robbery unit. Both teens were injured and taken to the University of Maryland Shock Travention Center for treatment.
