Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested an Indian national living unlawfully in the US, Sukhdev Singh, for allegedly causing a traffic accident that left a U.S. citizen hospitalized and in critical condition. Singh had obtained a Commercial Driver’s License in New York before the accident. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis called for the safety of illegal aliens operating 18-wheelers on American highways. This incident is part of a larger trend of fatal or deadly roadway accidents allegedly caused by illegal migrant truck drivers. The Trump administration has taken action to restrict non-domiciled CDLs and implement new screening processes to prevent foreigners with bad driving records from obtaining licenses.
