Fernando Mendoza Is Skipping NFL Draft to Be With His Mom, Who Has MS. What He’s Shared

Fernando Mendoza, the 22-year-old quarterback who won the Heisman Trophy in December and is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will instead attend with his mom, Elsa MendoZA, who has multiple sclerosis. Mendozza revealed on "The Rich Eisen Show" that he will be at home when he learns where his NFL career will begin. He has previously expressed his love for his family and expressed his desire to share this moment with them rather than just a few dozen people in Pittsburgh.
