Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 freshman recruit in the country, has been praised by new head coach Kyle Wittingham as a "mega-talent" and it's the coaching staff's responsibility to make him a "finished product" for the Wolverines. Wittingam praised Underwood's ability but acknowledged that he was raw, and praised his use of the user-friendly offense by Whittingham. Despite an overhaul in the offseason, Underwood chose to stay in Ann Arbor for another season despite the coaching change. The Wolverines' 2026 recruiting class was largely unaffected by the change.
