The media layoffs across the entertainment industry, including those from Paramount, Warner Bros Discovery, CNN, and Universal Music Group, are impacting the industry. This follows a trend of job cuts following the COVID-19 pandemic, dual Hollywood strikes, and a series of wildfires in Los Angeles in 2025. The potential merger between Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix is seen as a significant step forward, with founder and former CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey describing it as "one of the hardest decisions" in history for his company, Blocks, which reduced staff by nearly half to nearly 6,000. The Washington Post began cutting a third of its staff, affecting both newsroom and business side, and the sports section is no longer being used. Amazon announced in October that it will lay off 14,000 people in its workforce with the advancement of AI technology. The company also announced plans to cut another 16,000 employees at the end of 2025.
