The expansion Toronto Tempo has signed guards Marina Mabrey and Brittney Sykes to two-year max contracts with the WNBA's first $1M backcourt, making them the league's first known $1 million backcourt. The team and their agent confirmed the signings. Mabry reportedly will earn $1.2 million in each of the next two seasons, while Sykes is eligible for a seven-figure deal. The signing of Mabray and Sykes comes as a free agent after she earned her first All-Star selection in 2025 while playing with the Washington Mystics and Seattle Storm. Toronto also announced the signing of veteran guard Julie Allemand, who was the No.2 overall pick in the expansion draft.
