The Portland Thorns defeated San Diego 2-0, moving them into the top spot in the NWSL standings. Sophia Wilson and Marie Muller scored at home for the first time in nearly 18 months, while San Diego's five-game winning streak ended. Portland (5-1-1, 16 points) avenged its only loss of the season to move into first place, a position it hasn't held since the final week of the 2023 season. Wilson's first goal came in the 64th minute at Providence Park, marking her home debut since Nov. 1, 2024. Muller's goal was the first in her 30th regular-season appearance for the Thorns.
