European shares have fallen at the open as hopes of an end to the Middle East conflict diminish. Futures tracking the pan-European STOXX 600 fell nearly 2% by 0636 GMT, with Germany's DAX and France's CAC 40 down 1.7%. The prolonged delay to reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is expected to further exacerbate inflation and growth fears.
