New AI-focused school at UCSD named for '96 alum who was Facebook pioneer

UC San Diego has announced the establishment of a new school focused on artificial intelligence, named for alumnus Taner Halicioglu. The Halıcıoglu School of Data Science and Computing will unite the earlier HalıCıoglu Data Science Institute and the San Diego Supercomputer Center into a single school. The school aims to advance data and computing to improve society and prepare the next generation of highly skilled technologists for AI advancements. In total, $125 million has been donated to the university.
