New Mexico governor signs nation's first no-cost child care into law

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed the nation's first no-cost child care law, making New Mexico the first state to guarantee such care. The law allows families to focus their income on other needed payments rather than choosing between paying rent or paying for child care. Another bill signed into law removes barriers to child care expansion through local zoning and homeowners associations. The signed law allows New Mexico to be used as a model for other states to offer no cost child care to its residents.
