Royals captain Salvador Perez and manager Matt Quatraro have reconciled after a social media post sparked controversy. Perez had been given a day off following a loss to the New York Yankees, and Quattraro responded by posting "I don't need a mental breather" on X. He also posted a link to a Spanish-language version of a story on the subject, which he labelled "fake" in English. Despite the controversy, both Perez and Quatararo insisted that they are in a good position and had discussed the issue several times. The Royals have enlisted veteran Elias Diaz from Triple-A Omaha to serve as the third catcher, along with Perez and Carter Jensen.
