Faycal Manz, a German student who spent six days in the US in 2024, sued for $100,000 from Los Tacos No. 1 in Times Square for failing to warn customers of the dangerous condiment. The lawsuit was dismissed by a federal judge, who ruled that there is no duty to warn a consumer of the spice-associated risks associated with consuming salsa. Manz also sued again for $10 million, claiming that the experience had a significant emotional impact and led to flashbacks to acts of discrimination he had experienced in school and at work. Despite these lawsuits, Manz has yet to recoup any of his travel expenses for his U.S. vacation.
