Trump says eight Iranian women won't be executed, Iran disputes entire account

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Iran had agreed to stop executing eight women protesters in a gesture of respect for him. However, Iran denied the executions and accused the president of spreading falsehoods. Four of the women will be released immediately and four will be sentenced to one month in prison. Iran called the whole issue a fabrication and accused Trump of trying to save face. The Iranian government has also criticised Iran's refusal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital supply route for global oil and gas.
