San Jose: Caregiver arrested, charged in death of dependent man found alone and ’emaciated’

A caregiver, Enid Acevedo, has been arrested and charged in the death of a 40-year-old man who was found alone and "emaciated" in a San Jose home last year. The man, identified as Joshua Sanchez, died from probable sepsis from pneumonia and other causes of death. Aceveo, who was responsible for providing in-home care for Sanchez, was identified as a suspect by homicide detectives and taken into custody on March 18. The death is being treated as San Jose's 27th homicide of 2025.
