The Archdiocese of Omaha confirmed that deacon at St. Peter's Catholic Church, John Zak, has died hours after a homicide was reported at his home. The incident occurred shortly after Omaha police responded to a home near 36th and Cass streets, which property records confirm is Zak's home. Zak had been with the parish for over 25 years and his death is a great shock to his family and parish. The investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
