Iconic brewpub chain shutters 39 locations amid bankruptcy wave

BrewDog, a global brand that survived the UK's version of bankruptcy and was purchased by Tilray, an American beverage and cannabis company, has closed its 39 locations across the U.K. and Ireland. The Brewers’ Association predicts that 2025 will be the second consecutive year in which brewery closings outpace brewery openings. This has also impacted larger brands as well as independent craft breweries. As part of the initial bankruptcy-like process, BrewDog closed 38 locations in the UK and has now closed its Atlanta brewpub in the US. The company’s U.S. assets are still controlled by an administrator, and this decision was likely made in consultation with Tilray.
