Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) has called for Israel to assassinate Iran's new Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who has yet to appear publicly since being appointed as the regime's new supreme leader. Khamenei was reportedly injured during the initial wave of airstrikes by the US and Israel on Feb. 28. Fetman suggested that Israel should eliminate Khamenei and any other members of the Iranian leadership if they recover. He also suggested that President Trump gave Iran the opportunity to negotiate an end to the war, which they declined. Despite this, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian suggested that the war could end if Iran’s “legitimate rights” were recognized, reparations were paid and guarantees against future attacks were put in place.
