The Miami Dolphins have restructured the contracts of running back De'Von Achane and center Aaron Brewer to create additional cap space for future years. The move was necessary as the Dolphins are currently in the worst financial situation of all 32 NFL teams in 2026, with Tua Tagovailoa's $99.2 million in dead-money charges over the next two years. Additionally, the team added four void years to Achane's contract, allowing the bulk of the contract to be paid as a signing bonus and increasing the cost of a potential trade to the new team, making it more difficult for the player to be traded. The team's recent trade of receiver Jaylen Waddle added to the burden of accelerating all prorated guaranteed payments.
