FIFA is paying out over $100 million in extra funds to World Cup teams in North America to cover higher-than-expected costs. The governing body is expecting revenue of at least $11 billion for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico that starts on June 11. FIFA's ruling council agreed to increase basic payments to each federation by $2 million to a minimum of $12.5 million. The financial support for pre-tournament training and expenses will also increase to $2.5m, and each federation will receive a $1 million raise in basic prize money to $10m. The total prize money fund of $655 million is set to give $50 million to the eventual champion.
