The US container imports fell by 6.5% in February, still the fourth-highest on record, according to Descartes. The company noted that this performance demonstrates the resilience of U.S. import demand despite ongoing policy and economic uncertainty. It also noted that February 2025 import volumes were likely inflated by import frontloading ahead of President Donald Trump's new tariffs. The Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision that Trump overstepped his authority by using the emergency powers law to impose sweeping tariffs.
