Ethereum Foundation Outlines Ethos and Responsibilities in New Mandate

The Ethereum Foundation, the non-profit organization that oversees the development of the Ethereum ecosystem, has published its mandate, reaffirming its role and the core pillars of the protocol. The mandate states that the foundation aims to ensure that the decentralized nature of the system and the success of the user experience. The foundation will focus on core protocol upgrades, long-horview research, cybersecurity, and tooling for the developers of the software, while minimising its role as much as possible. This follows a challenging year for the protocol, with co-founder Vitalik Buterin stating that the current approach to scaling through layer-2 networks no longer makes sense and needs a drastic change.
