The early bird gets the boot: Thousands of Oracle jobs deleted before sunrise

Thousands of Oracle employees have been laid off, with thousands of positions being eliminated in an attempt to cut costs and implement a "broader organizational change". The layoffs, which were first announced in March, have been compared to those of Amazon and other companies in the tech industry. As of May 2025, as of that date, the company is expected to employ around 162,000 full-time employees. The layoffs were reportedly the biggest single tech layoff in the last 12 months.
