Spanish propulsion startup, Arkadia Space, has raised €14.5 million from the European Innovation Council Accelerator (EIC), the first Spanish space company selected for this round. The company's DARK system became the first hydrogen peroxide propulsion system flown in orbit in Europe in March 2025, launching on a SpaceX mission. Arkadia's approach uses a hypergolic bipropellant system that combines high-concentration hydrogen Peroxide with a proprietary green fuel, reducing operational and refuelling costs by over 60% compared to conventional solutions. The funding will support commercialisation, further R&D, testing infrastructure expansion at Castellón Airport, and scaling of commercial operations.
