Bridges to Hope, a nonprofit working to provide housing and re-entry resources for Nebraskans leaving incarceration, is near completion in north Lincoln, Neb. The organization is developing Hope Village, a community of 18 tiny homes rented at one dollar per square foot, centered around a gathering space and donation center for the organization. Hope Village is designed to help people coming out of the justice system transition back into society. Executive Director Rhonda Mattingly said affordable housing remains one of the first barriers for those with a criminal record. The nonprofit is currently $1 million short of funds and in-kind donations, and must vacate its current space by August 15, regardless of construction completion.
