The Best Stocks in the Market, brought to light by Josh Brown and Sean Russo of Ritholtz Wealth Management, are two telecom companies that have not done much in recent years. Over the last decade, AT & T (T) and Verizon (VZ) have trailed the market as investors preferred asset-light companies with big profit margins and growth. T has annualized at just under 6% per year, while VZ has done just under 5%. These companies have spent the last few years unwinding some of the worst media deals in history. However, this is now a turnaround, with AT&T focusing on its core competiveness in voice, wireless and data. Meanwhile, Verizon has posted its best phone net-add quarter in five years and is moving towards becoming more shareholder friendly. The company's annual dividend has been raised for the 20th consecutive year, with a 5.62% yield, making it the 18th highest within the S & P 500. The Best Stocking in the Markets list also includes 170 names on the sector leaderboard.
