Pam Bondi's tenure at the Department of Justice (DOJ) is ending less than 14 months into her tenure. President Trump announced Bondi’s departure from the DOJ on Thursday. Bondi was known for her strong defense of the president and overseeing the release of files related to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will serve as acting attorney general in her stead. Bondy's handling of the Epstein files led to criticism and legislation forcing the DOJ to release all files in its possession related to the investigation into and prosecution of Epstein. The DOJ and FBI stated in a memo that Epstein did not have a list of clients to whom he trafficked underage girls and women and claimed the evidence supports the initial conclusion that the disgraced financier committed suicide.
