Thousands of customers across Northeast Ohio are without power due to strong winds sweeping across the region. The National Weather Service has warned that gusts could reach 50 to 60 mph, strong enough to bring down trees and power lines. The largest outages are in Cuyahoga, Lorain and Geauga counties, with over 7,000 affecting about 1.35% of FirstEnergy customers. In Lorain County, Sheffield Township has one of the largest outage rates, or approximately 44% of customers served in that area. A high wind warning remains in effect across all of Northeast Ohio. The Ohio Turnpike has restricted certain types of high-profile vehicles and trailers along its 241-mile toll road until 11:59 p.m.
