The New York Islanders' regular-season finale, Game 82 of 2025-26, is likely to be the first preseason game of 2026-27 after the team was officially eliminated from playoff contention following a 4-1 loss to the Canadiens. Coach Pete DeBoer plans to use this game to see as many players as possible. Victor Eklund, who helped Halifax Bridgeport secure a playoff spot, may also be in line for his NHL debut. However, it is unclear if the Isles will call up him. The team's loss leaves Ondrej Palat a healthy scratch and Anthony Duclair only the second time in the Islanders' last 11 games.
