New restrictions on livestock ownership have been proposed in Wildomar, California. The changes would reduce the number of large animals per acre from five to two, and all that livestock shall not be kept less than 100 feet from any street, 20 feet from property lines, and 50 feet from residences. The proposed changes separate out ruminants (hooved animals) from large animals and would be referred to as domestic animals, allowing at no more than 3 per acre. Additional rules have been added regarding animal keeping standards, ownership of exotic or wild animals, and endangered species. The Planning Commission can only make recommendations to the City Council regarding amendments to the development code.
