Apple has announced the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips for its MacBook Pro models. The chips are built using a new Apple-designed Fusion Architecture, combining two dies into a single system on a chip. The Fusion Architecture combines a powerful CPU, scalable GPU, Media Engine, unified memory controller, Neural Engine, and Thunderbolt 5 capabilities. Apple also renamed the high-performance cores as “super cores” and has introduced a new 18-core CPU architecture, which includes six of the highest-performing core design, now called super cores. The M5 and M-5 Max also feature a faster 16-core Neural Engine with a higher bandwidth connection to memory to accelerate on-device AI features and Apple Intelligence. The company attributes these advancements to an "unparalleled combination of performance, efficiency, and on- device AI capabilities".
