Denver Broncos GM George Paton and head coach Sean Payton, who share a common love for the team's draft war room, have been working together daily to assess prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft. Despite their unconventional approach to prospect evaluation over their three years together, Paton believes they are comfortable waiting for a prospect on Day 2. However, after losing their first-round pick to Miami in the Jaylen Waddle deal, Patons said the team lacks the capital for a significant move up the order once the draft begins on April 23. He also mentioned that the Broncos have been focusing on prospects ranked between Nos. 40 and 75, but are likely to target a prospect with a higher-floor, lower-upside at No. 62.
