Researchers from the University of San Diego have discovered a new way the body can prevent the spread of breast cancer. The discovery involved the role of an inflammatory protein called TYK2 in mechanotransduction, the process of how cells respond to their physical environment. This could potentially make it easier to treat the disease. Drug treatments for autoimmune diseases are also being considered. The study was funded by The National Cancer Institute and the American Association of Cancer Research.
