High winds, high temperatures, high winds, and a potentially critical fire danger are expected across the Borderland this Sunday. The National Weather Service predicts that winds will increase sharply as a storm system moves across the Southwest. The strongest winds are expected to be near mountain slopes and higher elevations, but this will also impact El Paso, Las Cruces and surrounding communities. Red Flag Warnings are in effect for El Paso and Hudspeth counties and a High Wind Warning for eastern El Paso County.
