The annual West Virginia Maple Syrup Festival, held in Pickens, West Virginia, attracts nearly 5,000 people every year. The event, which started 40 years ago, has been held since 1985 and attracts a crowd of over 60 vendors and six food trucks. The festival attendees said their favorite part of the event was eating pancakes and enjoying maple syrup. The president of the Pickens Historical Society, Debby Morgan, believes the event is what keeps the town alive.
