City News Cafe in Chicago, owner Joe Angelastri, has been open since 1978 and has been doing so for nearly 50 years. The shop was hit by a car that smashed through its storefront, shattering all the shop's windows and damaging furniture. Despite being out of town when the crash occurred, the shop re-opened its doors to customers. The incident occurred when police saw a car matching the description of a stolen vehicle run a red light at a Six Corners intersection and sped away, eventually losing control and drifting sideways into City News Cafe. The car was found with three firearms in the vehicle. Despite the loss of control, regular customers rallied behind the store to show their support and donate money to fix its windows.
