The Colorado Rockies and the Kansas City Royals had their three-game series opener delayed due to rain at Coors Field. The Rockies were set to start with Tomoyuki Sugano against Michael Wacha, but the rain prevented them from resuming play. Both teams entered the game with little to gain the season. The team's best hope is to sell assets at the trade deadline and begin playing for next year. The question is whether the Rockies will be enticed to trade their two-time All-Star catcher hunter, Goodman, who is reportedly attracting interest from several teams. The game was postponed before first pitch.
