Brunswick Hills Township Police Chief Tim Sopkovich updated the township board of trustees on various police personnel and traffic related issues. He said the department currently has 14 full-time patrol officers, one detective, and the SRO, with a portion of the officer's salary provided through the township’s $41,716 Medina County Drug Advisory Committee (MCDAC) Grant. Two part-time officers were hired in October and December to cover second shift, which he said is the busiest of the day. The department responded to 285 calls in January, including seven serious crashes at the intersection of Center and Substation roads. Additionally, the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities gave an update on programs such as the Toddler Play Group, mobile adult changing center, scholarship opportunities for high school seniors planning a career in the developmental disabilities field, and blanket certificate approvals for medical hospitalization in the police department.
