Kent and Robyn Hubbert, a husband and wife from Buffalo County, have turned their family farm into a small birding business. They operate Prairie Wind Birding Tours, offering visitors a close look at prairie chickens on their mating grounds. The land, which has been in Kent's family since the 1860s, was first introduced to the public in 2022 when Kent mentioned his prairie chicken to another person who manages a lek near McCook. The Hubberts built three bird blinds out of old trailers and recycled materials and are now expecting 500 guests this year. The tours take place during mating season from March until April 11.
