The City of Whitehouse, Texas, has rejected an agreement allowing the police to have limited immigration authority. The agreement was split between the mayor and the council, resulting in a 3-2 vote. The 287(g)-task force program would allow officers to enforce limited immigration control with federal oversight. The vote was held in response to criticism of the agreement.
