A coalition of 26 states have resumed a jury trial against Live Nation, following a recent settlement from the Department of Justice (DO) regarding its antitrust case against the music company. The DOJ demands that Live Nation change certain practices that have allegedly stifled competition in live music, but does not require the company to divest its subsidiary, Ticketmaster. The states have hired veteran antitrust lawyer Jeffrey Kessler to handle the case without the help of the federal government. This comes after a trove of internal Live Nation messages were unsealed, showing executives bragging about their ability to charge fans. The Senate Democrats have released a report calling for Live Nation and Ticketmaster to be broken up and criticising the DOJ settlement.
