Magnitude 4.6 earthquake shakes Central California

A magnitude 4.6 earthquake hit California's Central Coast early Thursday morning, causing moderate shaking in several areas. The initial magnitude was 4.9 and a depth of more than 6.7 miles. The USGS predicts that there is a less than 1% chance of one or more aftershocks larger than magnitude 5 within the next week. The agency recommends dropping onto their hands and knees, covering your neck and head with one arm and holding onto something until the shaking stops.
