Rabe'e Ata Juma'a Alqaq, a Jordanian soccer player who went missing from Rice University in Houston, has stated that he made a mistake by leaving on his own after a friend in Chicago encouraged him to take a bus to Chicago. Alqaqaq and his team had arrived in the US for the Genuine Cup, an international soccer tournament for athletes with intellectual disabilities hosted at Rice University. He said he did not have internet access during the trip and only discovered the widespread concern after connecting to the internet. Alqq was found safe in the Chicago area and no foul play is suspected.
