Dr. Stephen Kornfeld, a Bend doctor, is currently on the MV Hondius, which is at the center of a Hantavirus Outbreak. He is one of 17 American citizens on the ship, assisting with medical treatment for passengers who have come in contact with the virus. The outbreak has resulted in three deaths and more than 145 passengers and crew members remain on the cruise ship. Kornhende has not received any guidance on returning home safely or disembarking the ship.
