CUNY adds career work to classrooms

Professor of anthropology and director of the human biology program at Hunter College, Michael Rothman, has written that the CUNY Inclusive Economy initiative has helped students in their careers become more prepared for the workforce. The initiative involved hiring two dedicated staff members from the program to assist students in presenting their skills, communicating their knowledge on their résumés and identifying careers they would be qualified for. Rothman's team has connected over 120 students to jobs and internships since July, and demand for this work has increased as more students hear about the successful program. The program has been a gamechanger in light of public skepticism about the value of a college degree, particularly during a period of public distrust in higher education.
