Italy's fourth-largest bank, Banco BPM, has reported a higher than expected first-quarter net profit, largely due to strong growth in net fees. The bank has been trying to diversify its revenue streams away from traditional lending operations. The profit exceeded a Reuters-compiled analyst consensus of 451 million euros.
