Iran's sports and youth minister, Ahmad Donyamali, has stated that it is not possible for Iran to participate in the World Cup in North America in June due to the death of its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Iranian national team was set to use the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson as its home for the tournament. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has reportedly received assurances that Iran will be permitted to come to the U.S.
